Recent photos

Photos from last 10 days or so. The weather has been mainly gray and rainy, but we've had a few sunny days as well.
De Nieuwe Kerk from behind.

Beer truck looks almost like a painting on the wall.

Kermis (funfair) came into town.

A lovely house and the groundfloor holds my favourite book store in all Delft.

Autumn is here.

Bikes at the station.

At the petting zoo.

Photogenic sky

Last week the sky was so amazing that I just had to take the camera with us when walking through the city.

Outside the city center

Yesterday was a beautiful sunny weather and so we decided to take a little walk outside the city center of Delft. Here's what we saw:

Delftse blauw mosaic.

And someone thought to be funny. It's Kanaalweg (Canalstreet) rather than "analstreet".

Waterboats are back! It's official, spring is here!

Where are we, in Mexico?

Flowers blossoming!

Water sparkling!

Careful now.

The view from a distance. The church tower faaar away is the Old Church.

Kwik-e-mart.

Going to a tunnel.

Flood of light.

Chrispy green.

Shopping mall De Hoven.

Fruits and veggies.

Hairdresser with traffic lights - this is very common in Holland. If it stands on red, it means no use just walking in for a quick cut; on orange you might get in and when the traffic light's on green you can freely walk in and be sure to get a haircut (in exchange for money of course).

Ceiling.

Loads of people.

Poor boy pushing shopping carts.

Flower store.

Happy Easter!

Yummy, more chocolate!

Chocolate ducks.

Cheese and nuts.

Busy people.

Here we are already outside the shopping mall.

Mercurius and the sun in the same picture!

Disco disco!

Some apartments.

Going to a tunnel again.

Artists at work.

The whole tunnel was filled with all sorts of paintings. Good and bad.

This one (above) was one of my favourites.

Hardly a commercial for Opel.

Boat parking.

Solar power!

It almost felt like summer.

Walking the camera

Today I went to feed the duckies with my daughter and just in case took my camera with me. I've been struggling a little with this blog lately, but for some reason I felt inspired today and so we did a massive walk and saw a little of this and a little of that. Here are the highlights of our walk today:

First, the inspiring duck.

Wooden shoes, what else.

And I also saw another cliché: windmills.

We have internet since today, it said and the whole place was filled with people and their laptops.

Everyone should know Bill Clinton has eaten poffertjes (small Dutch pancakes) here.

Some color in the neighborhood.

Typical.

What's up with the door?

I saw very first of spring today.

I want nothing but McCain, it says. McCain is a producer of french fries in Holland, but I never eat anything but Aviko (another brand), just in case. Also note the pretty poster on the wall.

It was market day today.

"Taxes" and the hand print says "Stop Aids, let's make a deal".

This small alley reminded me of spring for some reason.

Pimp my bike.

How did he fit his car throught this alley?

Una silla, por favor. Or two.

Someone must be nuts about eggs.

I wonder if this person also has blue frames on his glasses? Maybe a local Mikko Alatalo lives here (a famous Finnish artist, to see his photo, click here).

Who says graffiti and gardening don't go together?

East port from the wrong side.

The same port and the same side.

Modern Dutch houses.

Would you next time save me a seat?

Painting on the wall.

Someone lives here.

No pooping.

Our doorbell, now you know where I live.

1st of January 2009

Thanks to one of my blog's readers, I'm now newly encouraged and ready to show more of beautiful Delft to you all. This time I will change my rules a little though. I will publish new photos whenever I have the inspiration and the chance to do so, and instead of just one photo, I might just click a series of photos. Here's the first of January:

"Our" canal has been frozen for 3 days now

Someone forgot to finish their drinks

Bikes on ice

Sinking

Brabantse Turfmark after the New Year

Trashy city

I've never seen the market place so quiet as today

Te Koop Arponen (te koop = myytävänä)
Ice ice baby

A pile of magazines was still smoking at 9 am

Did someone forget something?

Crazy (=drunken) people have been walking on the thin ice

An old German poster of Finnland

Many of the car hoods were used as a writing board

A pretty, old car

This is the last of the Christmas decoration, I promise

Duckies on a queue to take off

Photos that never made it

Here are some photos that I've taken since I started this blog, but never made it till publishing. This is my apology for not updating Delft Daily Photo in a while, and also a little Christmas present for all loyal readers. Hopefully I will have more energy in the beginning of next year to find more beautiful things to photograph.
